"Waiting" is a faith-inspired painting of a barren couple's aspirations to parenthood. Set in the courtyard of their Uighur home, the old patriarch of the family is seen here carrying his grandson in his arms as he looks into the distance. The couple in question indeed became parents of a boy some time after a prolonged season of praying and waiting.
